Helping Reunite Pets and Their Families
Losing a pet can be a stressful and upsetting experience. The NSPCA Lost & Found service has been created to help reunite missing pets with their families across Ireland.
Whether you have lost a pet, found an animal, or are searching for a pet that may have entered NSPCA care, we’re here to help.
You can submit a Lost or Found Pet report, browse community-submitted listings, and view animals currently in the care of NSPCA centres while we work to locate their owners.
All submissions are reviewed by our team before being published.
I have lost a pet
If your pet has gone missing, please complete our Lost Pet form with as much detail as possible, including a recent photograph, a description of your pet, where they were last seen and your contact details.
Once reviewed, your listing may be published on our Lost & Found page to help increase the chances of your pet being recognised and reunited with you.
I have found a pet
If you have found a stray or unidentified animal, please complete our Found Pet form and include a photograph, the location where the animal was found, any distinguishing features and your contact details.
Once reviewed, your listing may be published on our Lost & Found page so owners can search for and identify missing pets.
Important: Under Irish law, all found dogs must be reported to your local Dog Warden Service.

What Should I Do If My Pet Is Missing?
Submit a Lost Pet report through the NSPCA Lost & Found service. Include as much information as possible, including:
- A recent photograph
- Species, breed and age
- Sex and neuter status
- Distinguishing markings or features
- Microchip details (if applicable)
- The location where your pet was last seen
Browse our Found Pets listings regularly and keep an eye on animals currently in NSPCA care. Someone may already have reported finding your pet.
If you have lost a dog, contact your local Dog Warden Service as soon as possible.
We also recommend contacting:
- Local veterinary practices
- Animal welfare organisations
- Rescue centres
- Your local authority dog pound
Share a recent photograph and description of your pet on social media and local community groups.
You can also put up posters in the area where your pet went missing, as well as in local shops, veterinary clinics and community noticeboards.
Microchipping is one of the most effective ways to reunite lost pets with their owners.
Ensure your pet’s microchip details are registered and up to date. Veterinary practices, dog wardens, shelters and rescue organisations routinely scan found animals for microchips.
An ID tag attached to your pet’s collar with current contact details can also help speed up reunification.
Once your pet has been safely reunited with you, please remember to:
- Remove any posters you have displayed
- Update your social media posts
- Notify any organisations you contacted during your search
- Contact the NSPCA if you would like your Lost Pet listing removed
