Cosmo came into the NSPCA through our inspectors. He did not have the best start in life spending his time chained up. He lived a closed off life with little exposure and interaction. Because of this, Cosmo never got to learn how to relax in environments and can become easily over aroused. This can result in him mouthing and play biting. With lots of work from our animal care team and trainers he is learning how to navigate life. Typical of his breed, Cosmo is super smart. He thrives when working and training to learn new tricks. He is looking for an owner who has experience with his breed and will commit to continuing on his training. His new owner will need to be willing to give him the time and patience he deserves, to learn the ways of the outside world and experience the joy of being a part of a home. At 1 years of age, he is still a puppy in an adult body. The teenage stage of puppy hood is the most difficult stage of a dogs life and the part that requires the most commitment and consistency to help him grow into the best well rounded adult dog. At 40+kg, Cosmo will be best suited to an experienced adult home with a family who are comfortable with larger boisterous dogs. His family will need to visit him a couple of times in the shelter. He could potentially live with another dog of similar size with a confident personality pending a dog meet.
