Say hi to Jem and Milséan, our adorable mother-daughter combo! Jem is about 18 months old and Milséan is about 3 months old and is Jem’s daughter. Jem came into the shelter when her babies were no more than 2 weeks old, and she had 8 of them! Even though this time was stressful and she had been living in bad conditions, Jem gave her babies everything and has been an excellent mother. Her babies have been thriving since coming in to us.
Jem has been spayed, however, Milséan is too young to be spayed yet so she must go to a foster home until she can come back to the shelter for her surgery. We are planning on booking her spay for the end of September so she will be on foster until then. We are particularly looking for families to foster with the intention of adopting Jem and Milséan together after Milséan’s surgery; we call this process ‘fostering-to-adopt’.

Thank you for choosing to foster-to-adopt a rabbit from the NSPCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend rabbits be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 140 x 60cm for two rabbits with plenty of indoor free roam time.
Rabbits require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. We have seen too many being abandoned so please make sure that you are in a position to look after them and provide them with everything they need.
All our rabbits are microchipped and vaccinated and will be spayed once they are ready.
