Ollie came into the NSPCA through our inspectors. On arrival he was extremely shut down and fearful. He was not comfortable being touched and would yelp in fear. We do not know exactly what Ollie has been through but it is clear he has had a tough time. With lots of TLC, Ollie has started to feel a little more secure in his new surroundings and beginning to learn to trust people. He has found safety with his favourite staff members and has become such an affectionate boy who looks for reassurance from his person when needed. He has made lots of doggie pals and is at his most comfortable when around multiple dogs. He begins to forget himself, seeking bum scratches and pets from those that he would not normally be so comfortable with. Because of this he will be best suited to a home with other confident dogs. When Ollie is frightened or unsure, he can portray his feelings by barking and asking for space. Ollie will be would be best suited to a quiet understanding adult only home that will be patient and allow him to take things at his own pace. He will need an owner that has experience with nervous dogs or those with behavioural issues. He will benefit from continued training and socialising in his new home to help him continue to grow into the best boy that we know he is. Despite his age, Ollie still has plenty of energy. His favourite part of the day is when the shelter is quiet and he can potter freely and explore his surroundings. Due to him being a non shed breed, his coat upkeep and regular grooming will be something his new family will need to take into consideration along with working with an understanding groomer. His new owner will need to be willing to meet Ollie a few times to allow him to gain trust.
