Rockie is a young mule who came into our care after being abandoned at Ballinasloe Fair. He had a very difficult start, including injuries to his face caused by being tied with rope. Despite everything he has been through, Rockie has shown incredible resilience and a real willingness to connect.
When he first arrived, Rockie was very nervous and unsure of people and his surroundings. He displayed fear based behaviours such as kicking, but with time, consistent handling and kind, patient care, he has made fantastic progress. He is now much better at communicating how he feels and will give clear warnings when he is uncomfortable.
At heart, Rockie is a very affectionate boy who wants to trust. Once he feels safe, he forms strong bonds with his person and enjoys that connection. He will need a calm, experienced home that understands his past and is willing to give him the time, patience and reassurance he needs to continue building confidence.
Rockie is still learning and developing, and will benefit from ongoing handling in a quiet and supportive environment. With the right approach, we believe he has huge potential to continue progressing and becoming a confident and trusting companion.
He is also a lovely mover and, when he is older and ready, could potentially be broken and brought on for riding in the future.
Rockie has been through more than most at such a young age, but he has so much love to give. With the right person by his side, he will truly come into his own and form a very special partnership,
