Skye originally came into the shelter through our inspectors at just 5 months old, nervous, afraid and with her skin in a very bad condition. She was adopted a short while after and once again at the most difficult stage in a dogs life, the teenage stage, she has found herself back in a shelter environment in need of training, consistency and confidence building. Skye has lived an extremely tough life for such a young girl and will need a family that will understand this and be willing to provide Skye with the training and commitment she deserves. She is super intelligent and loves her food, both will help greatly for training.

On arriving back to the shelter she was unsure and a little shell shocked. Unfortunately her socialisation had not been up kept and her behaviour regressed as a result. With the great work of our rehabilitation team, she has been quickly coming out her shell and showing us that lively, playful and sweet pup that we know she is. She now loves being around her carers, and is incredibly affectionate with them. She is meeting more and more people and is making us very proud of how she has progressed. She really enjoys getting out for play time, chasing her toys or playing tug, and then climbing into your lap for some well deserved cuddles. She will need a family experienced with her breed and their characteristics. Sharpei’s are very loyal dogs to their owners, they will stick by your side, showing you unconditional love. She is best suited to a quiet Adult home, who are used to nervous dogs. She will need a family that will be willing to visit the shelter a few times to meet with her and will give her the time, space and patience to settle into a new environment. She could live with another confident dog who can show her some guidance pending a dog meet.

Could the adorable Skye, be the perfect addition to your family you have been looking for?
