Trixie came into the NSPCA from another rescue in search of her forever home. On arrival she was extremely nervous and unsure and struggled to even walk on a lead. Arriving into a shelter or new environment can be overwhelming and stressful. Trixie initially spent some time in a foster home and on her return she had developed into a playful, outgoing and puppy like dog. Underneath that shyness was a young playful bouncy girl with a cheeky side. Sadly the longer Trixie has spent here in the shelter, she is becoming more stressed and unsure of the outside world. Staff have been bringing her on offsite adventures but nothing will compare to being in a loving home and having a space to decompress. Being a Collie, Trixie can find busy environments such as cars difficult to cope with. She will be best suited to a quiet adult home, located in a quiet area or have the ability to bring her to quieter areas to walk whilst she continues her training. She is extremely intelligent and energetic and will suit an active family that will bring her on lots of adventures along with providing her with lots of mental stimulation. She will need a family that will go at her pace when meeting her and be willing to give her the time and patience she will need to settle into another new environment. Collies by nature are extremely intelligent and Trixie is no different. Trixie has made lots of doggie pals here in the shelter and her favourite time is being out in our off lead area during play groups. Trixie is often our go to dog to help dogs that need work with socialising.
