NSPCA inspectors responded to a welfare call this afternoon concerning two horses in South County Dublin. When they arrived at the scene, they found two young ponies on the ground, struggling to survive.
Both ponies were in very poor condition and extremely underweight. Our vets were urgently called to attend and, sadly, despite every effort, both ponies had to be euthanised at the scene. This was yet another horrific and deeply distressing situation for our inspectors and veterinary team.
This did not happen overnight. This level of neglect and suffering occurred over a period of weeks, if not months. The treatment of these ponies was outright barbaric, and those responsible should be held accountable.This is a serious and ongoing investigation.
