Before intervention became necessary, the NSPCA made a number of attempts to work with the owners to improve the welfare of two horses. Unfortunately, despite these efforts, the welfare concerns persisted.
As a result, both horses were seized by Inspector Faherty and are now in the care of the NSPCA.
Sadly, both horses are very elderly and suffering from cancer and a number of ongoing health issues, leaving them with a poor prognosis.
While the owners were young, age does not remove the responsibility that comes with animal ownership. Every animal owner has a duty of care to ensure their animals receive appropriate food, shelter, veterinary treatment and daily care.
For now, our focus is on keeping these horses comfortable and ensuring they receive the care and compassion they deserve.
