Volunteering with the NSPCA is more than just a good deed, it’s a great way to connect and contribute as a team.
Step out of the everyday routine and into a space where your hard work directly impacts the lives of rescued animals.
Be prepared for a day that is hands-on, informative and rewarding!
At the NSPCA, we truly value the support of our volunteers. Whether you’re walking dogs and spending time with our animals, or lending a hand with shelter maintenance, every volunteer day helps make a real difference in the lives of the animals we care for.
We currently offer corporate volunteering opportunities across Dublin, Wicklow, and Longford so your team can join us at a location that suits you best.

Corporate Volunteering FAQs
What is corporate volunteering at the NSPCA?
Corporate volunteering is a fantastic way for your team to come together, give back and make a real difference to animals in need.
Our corporate volunteering days give businesses the opportunity to support the work of the NSPCA through hands-on activities at our shelters. From walking dogs to helping with gardening and maintenance, your team can play a valuable part in creating a safe, comfortable and welcoming environment for the animals in our care.
It’s a rewarding team experience and a wonderful way to support animal welfare while spending time together outside the workplace.
We’d love to volunteer, but is there somewhere closer to Dublin city centre?
Our corporate volunteering opportunities take place at our NSPCA shelter locations in Rathfarnham, Wicklow and Longford. Unfortunately, we don’t currently offer corporate volunteering opportunities in Dublin city centre.
Can I bring my child along to a corporate volunteering day?
Unfortunately, no. For health, safety and animal welfare reasons, all participants in our corporate volunteering programme must be 18 years of age or older.
Can I bring my own dog?
As much as we love meeting your four-legged friends, we kindly ask that you leave your own dog at home when attending a corporate volunteering session. This helps us maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the animals in our care.
Is parking available at the shelters?
Yes! Parking is available at each of our shelter locations. We’ll share all the information you need, including where to park, ahead of your volunteering day.
My employer gives me one volunteering day per year. Can I use it to volunteer at an NSPCA shelter?
We really appreciate you wanting to spend your volunteering day helping animals!
Unfortunately, we’re unable to accommodate individual, one-off volunteering days at our shelters. We currently offer regular volunteering opportunities and organised corporate volunteering days for groups.
This is because volunteering with animals requires preparation, including training, health and safety guidance, animal welfare information and staff supervision. Even for a single day, we need to make sure everyone is properly supported and that the experience is safe and worthwhile for both our volunteers and the animals in our care.
If you’re interested in getting involved on a more regular basis, we’d love for you to explore our regular volunteering opportunities.
Is a donation required to take part in corporate volunteering?
Yes, a donation is required for our corporate volunteering sessions. The amount varies depending on the shelter location and type of activity.
Our team will be happy to talk you through the available options and associated donation amounts when you enquire.
Do we need Garda vetting to take part?
Garda vetting is not generally required for our one-off corporate team volunteering sessions.
However, all participants must follow the NSPCA’s health and safety procedures, animal welfare guidelines and any relevant safeguarding requirements while on site.
What types of corporate volunteering activities are available?
We offer a range of hands-on volunteering opportunities that help make a real difference to the animals in our care.
Dog walking is one of our most popular corporate volunteering activities and is always in high demand.
We also have opportunities to help with general shelter maintenance, including gardening, weeding, painting and other practical tasks that help keep our facilities safe, welcoming and comfortable for the animals.
Activities vary depending on the shelter’s needs, location and availability, and our team will be happy to discuss suitable options for your group.
Can I get to the shelter by public transport?
Our shelter locations are not accessible by public transport, so we recommend travelling by car or arranging to carpool with your colleagues.
We’ll provide directions and arrival information ahead of your volunteering day to help you plan your journey.
Can our team bring items to donate?
Absolutely! We’re always grateful for donations of items that help us care for the animals in our shelters.
As each shelter may have different needs, we recommend getting in touch with our team before your visit. We’ll be happy to share a list of items that would be particularly useful at your chosen location.
It’s a lovely way for your team to make an even bigger difference during your volunteering day!
