Dog Fostering
Foster volunteers are an essential part of our work. By opening their homes, they provide a safe, calm environment for dogs who need extra care — particularly puppies, or those who are sick, injured or recovering.
A foster home allows dogs to rest, recover, and build confidence away from the shelter, helping them on their journey to finding a permanent home.
Why Foster?
Fostering helps us:
- Care for puppies who are too young for the shelter environment
- Support dogs recovering from illness or injury
- Give dogs a chance to experience home life
- Free up space in the shelter for other animals in need
Support Provided
We’ll support you throughout your fostering journey:
- Food, bedding and any required medication provided
- Ongoing veterinary care and support
- Guidance from a dedicated foster coordinator
What’s Expected
As a foster volunteer, you will:
- Provide a safe, clean and calm home environment
- Support feeding, socialisation and gentle handling
- Monitor and report any changes in behaviour or health
- Attend veterinary appointments where required
- Follow all care and safety guidelines
Requirements
To foster a dog, you must:
- Be over 18
- Have access to private transport
- Live within a reasonable distance of a centre
- Be available during the day (depending on foster type)
