Responding to Animals in Need
Animals can find themselves in need of help for many reasons. They might be suffering from neglect, living in unsuitable conditions, injured, abandoned or otherwise at risk.
Our teams work across Ireland to respond to welfare concerns, assess situations and ensure animals receive the immediate support they need. Whether supporting an individual animal or assisting with a larger welfare case, our focus is always on protecting animal welfare and preventing further suffering.
A National Animal Welfare Response
Animal rescue is a collaborative effort. Our authorised inspectors, animal care teams, veterinary professionals, volunteers and foster carers work together to respond to welfare concerns and help animals in need.
Working under animal welfare legislation, our inspectors investigate reports of cruelty, neglect and welfare concerns, intervening when animals are at risk and helping to ensure animal welfare laws are upheld.
We also work closely with members of the public, local authorities, An Garda Síochána, veterinary professionals and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine to protect animals and improve welfare standards across Ireland.
What Happens Next?
Every animal’s circumstances are different. Once an animal enters our care, they are assessed and supported according to their individual needs.
Some animals require veterinary treatment, while others need time, patience and dedicated care to help them recover and move forward. Whatever their circumstances, our teams are committed to giving every animal the care, compassion and opportunity they deserve.
