Sandy originally came into the NSPCA through our inspectors. From day one, he has been a truly lovely boy. When he first arrived, he was very nervous and in poor condition, with a rough coat and multiple old wounds. While we don’t know what he has been through, our team made sure he felt safe, cared for, and loved from the very beginning.
Sandy was adopted shortly after, but sadly has found himself back in the shelter once again, still searching for the home he truly deserves.
He has a wonderfully affectionate nature and loves to lean into you for cuddles. Like most Lurchers, Sandy is very people-oriented and thrives on companionship, enjoying being close to his family as much as possible.
Sandy will need a home where someone is around for much of the day, and who can patiently help him build confidence with being left alone over time. He absolutely loves his daily walks, followed by a cosy spot to curl up and relax.
True to his breed, Sandy enjoys a good zoomie session! He can sometimes become vocal on the lead when he sees other dogs, so he will benefit from continued training and regular, positive socialisation to help manage this and build his confidence. Off lead he loves playing with a variety of dogs and has become our go to dog for socialising other dogs.
Sandy could potentially live with another playful dog, pending a successful meet.
