A tiny 5-week-old ginger kitten is safe today thanks to the kindness and quick thinking of seven-year-old Isla and her mum.
The pair were walking back to their car in Cabra, Dublin 7, when Isla heard the faint sound of a kitten crying. After searching for the source of the noise, they realised it was coming from the engine compartment of a nearby parked car.
Knowing the kitten was in danger, Isla’s mum immediately placed a warning notice on the vehicle to prevent it from being driven away before contacting the NSPCA Inspectorate.
NSPCA inspectors arrived within 30 minutes, but by then the adventurous little kitten had managed to move from one car engine to another. Using patience, experience and a little tasty food, our inspectors were able to safely coax the frightened kitten to safety.
The kitten is now safe and receiving the care he needs.
