These two little loonies are Jimmy and Choo. They were found dumped in a shoebox down the country and thankfully someone spotted them and rescued them. Our inspectors brought them to our Dublin centre so they could start their recovery. We assume Jimmy and Choo are siblings as they are very close. They were treated for mites and microchipped when they arrived and have settled really well. Like most young ferrets, they can play bite quite a bit but this is behaviour that should settle over time; because of this, we recommend Jimmy and Choo go to homes with experienced ferret keepers who won’t mind the occasional nip! Jimmy and Choo are really coming out of their shell and absolutely love exploring every inch of their enclosure and snoozing in their cuddly bed. We’re sure with the right home they’ll be the nicest pair around!
We are looking for foster homes for these ferrets with homes intending to adopt them once they’re old enough. We call this process ‘foster-to-adopt’. We are doing this because these ferrets are too young to receive their contraceptive implant, so we are looking for foster homes for them until they are 6 months old. They will then come back to us to get their implant and can then be officially adopted by their foster families.
Ferrets are highly social, active animals and benefit hugely from another ferret friend and/or someone who is home a lot of the time to interact with them. They need to live inside with a multi-storey enclosure where they can climb, sleep and go to the toilet.
