Say hi to Carol – she is a 1 year old guinea pig who was brought into the shelter after being found abandoned in a house. Poor Carol was absolutely terrified of everyone. She was in good health but living in very dirty conditions with no hay or proper food. Thankfully, after a thorough checkup with our vet team and treated for some mites, she was given a clean bill of health and is ready to find her forever home. Carol needs to go to a home with other female guinea pigs or neutered male guinea pigs. We think she is craving other guinea pig company and we want to help her with that as soon as possible. We think she’ll be a much happier pig once she has a sister or two! If you can offer this lovely sweet girl a home please apply for her 🙂

Thank you for choosing to adopt a guinea pig from the NSPCA. Please make sure to do your research on how to care for a small animal before considering adopting. We recommend guinea pigs be kept indoors with an enclosure that’s a minimum of 120 x 60cm with plenty of indoor free roam time. Guinea pigs are highly social animals and CANNOT live alone. Please only apply to adopt Carol if you have other female guinea pigs or neutered males that you can bond Carol with.

Guinea pigs require proper housing, bedding, food, enrichment, exercise and vet visits. Small animals are not pets for young children to look after, all the family must be on board to look after and care for any new pet coming into the home. We have seen too many being abandoned so please make sure that you are in a position to look after them and provide them with everything they need.
